BACK TO THE NATURAL STATE OF NOTHING
The malaise right after ecstasy
the moment when you come
It’s the freedom of restriction
and it feels good to be dumb
So sit tight and relax, now
the flight is almost done
Your life is almost over
Are you still having fun?
But!
What if we’re never really living?
and this life is just the dream
of your crippled, dying body
in a loop forever seen?
just a film stained in perspective
by a creature that could talk
in a canvas with no meaning
and a universe of rocks
Some of which stay shining
for years after they’re dead
The speed of light, just bending
toward the eyeballs in your head
It’s the illusion of a faint glow
The reminder of a burn
in the canopy of outer-space
like us, it never learns
But one day we’ll become the trees!
to bask in spite of sentience!
To brush upon your skin, a breeze!
You’ll know that’s me;
and what it meant. To live in spite of you
is the same to me as the end will be
But that makes me optimistic too,
I’d come back to you eternally
back before it dies again
I’d hold you close.
I’d breathe you in.and take note of how your shoes drag across the pavement when you walk away from me.
